Early Life

Born December 17, 1977 in Etobicoke, Canada. Katheryn trained extensively in the martial arts growing up. She won a silver medial during the Canadian National Tae Kwon Do finals. She is also a licensed bodyguard. She received her first black belt at the age of 13 and competed nationally. At the age of only sixteen years old Katheryn opened her first school. She currently owns several branches of her martial arts institution, Win Kai Martial Arts in Canada. She actual started in the entertainment business as teacher for actors in martial arts.

Early Career

In 1999 she made her television debut appearing in “PSI Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal” followed by playing Holly Benson in the Canadian TV series “Student Bodies“. She studied acting in New York around early 2000’s and in 2003 she was selected out of thousands of young actors to appear in Bravo’s series “The It Factor” which were a series of documentaries about people who have “it”. The series followed eleven other actors besides Katheryn in New York during their journey in making it in the entertainment business. In the early 2000’s Katheryn appeared in various Canadian and American television series and (TV) movies like “Two Weeks Notice” as Tifanny sharing a scene with Hugh Grant.

Guest starring

Her first major guest role was for the television hit series “CSI: Miami” in 2004 as Nicole Harjo in episode twenty-two of season two. She also appeared in the other CSI spin-off “CSI: New York” as Lisa Kay only one year later (2005) in episode four of season two “Corporate Warriors“. Other guest roles in major television series followed. Katheryn had an impressive lead role in “House M.D.” as Eve in episode twelve of season three. She shared all her scenes with Hugh Laurie as Dr. Gregory House. She played Eve, a young woman with a trauma who reaches out to House. In March of 2002 Katheryn made her first appearance as a guest role in “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” in episode seventeen of the first season as Karyn Barrett. In 2007 she made her second appearance in the series but as a different character playing Carrie Conlon in the fifth episode of season eight.

In 2010 Katheryn was casted in Fox’s hit series “Bones” as returning guest star and love interest for David Boreanaz character Booth. She plays Hannah Burley, a journalist who moves back to the US to be with Booth. According to executive producer Stephen Nathan Hannah’s character will not be in the series but it is not certain when she will leave the show.

Rising Star

Miss Winnick’s resume is very divers-al because she wants to avoid the pitfall of being typecast. In 2004 Katheryn was in the Oscar-nominated short film “Our Time Is Up“. She had a supporting role in the by the Toronto International Film Festival selected film “Kiss Me” (2006) but her real break through for the American industry was as Melissa in the opening scene of “Failure to Launch ” (2006) sharing all her scenes with Matthew McConaughey. The challenging roles like the one of Lou Salome in “When Nietzsche Wept” (2007) are the ones that fulfill her acting ambitions.

Kateryn is a rising star landing lead roles in the next years. In 2008 Winnick appears as Tabitha in the thriller Amusement. A year later as Sveta in “Cold Souls” alongside Paul Giamatti. The film was selected by Sundance Film Festival of 2009. In 2010 Katheryn was casted for two major movies as a supportive role. Her first role was as Vivian alongside Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl in the action comedy “Killers” and alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in “Love and Other Drugs ” as ‘Lisa’.
